Women's Shoes in Sizes 42 to 46: Where to Find Them in Australia
Posted by Angels Shoes on
If you wear a size 42 or above, you already know the routine: you find a shoe you love, ask for your size, and hear that it only goes up to a 41. This guide explains how large women's sizes work in Australia, how to measure your feet at home, and what to look for so a larger shoe feels as good as it looks.
What counts as a large size?
Australian women's sizes from 10 up, which is roughly a European 41 and above, are generally treated as large sizes. At Angels Shoes we stock women's shoes from size 10 / 41 through to size 13 / 46, so there is real choice in styles at the top end of the range, not just one or two token pairs.
AU and EU sizes at a glance
| Australian size | European size |
|---|---|
| 10 | 41 |
| 10.5 | 42 |
| 11.5 | 43 |
| 12 | 44 |
| 12.5 | 45 |
| 13 | 46 |
Sizing varies between brands and styles, so treat these pairs as a guide and check the size information on each product page. We also stock a size 11.
How to measure your feet at home
- Measure in the afternoon or evening, when your feet are at their largest.
- Stand on a sheet of paper against a wall and trace around each foot.
- Measure from the back of your heel to the tip of your longest toe, and across the widest part of the foot.
- Use the larger foot as your guide, because most people have one foot slightly bigger than the other.
If you are between sizes, or your feet are wide as well as long, it often helps to try both sizes, or to look at our wide shoes.
What to look for in a larger shoe
- Room for your toes. You should be able to wiggle them, with about a thumb's width between your longest toe and the front of the shoe.
- Width as well as length. A longer shoe is not automatically a wider one, so check the width of the forefoot too.
- Cushioning and support. More length means more load through the arch and heel, so a supportive footbed matters.
- Proportion. Well-designed larger shoes are made on a proper last, rather than a small shoe simply scaled up.
